Beyond Orthodoxy | Meeting with Deborah Feldman | Łódź Many Cultures Festival

Meetings, Łódź Many Cultures Festival. A meeting with Deborah Feldman, author of the bestselling book "Unorthodox", translated into 30 languages and adapted for Netflix. Feldman grew up in the closed community of New York's Satmar Hasidim, Yiddish is her native language, and at age twenty she left the community and moved to Berlin with her son. The conversation will be moderated by philosopher Monika Bobako, with topics including identity, religion, and the price one sometimes has to pay for the right to decide about one's own life. After the main session, there will be an open circle discussion led by the New Community Foundation, where the audience will be able to share their own experiences.
