On September 19 at 4:00 PM at Teatr Jaracza in Łódź, join the next meeting in the 'Conversations in Times of Chaos' series with guest Magda Szpecht - director, artist, and cyberactivist who combines theatrical work with fighting Russian propaganda and disinformation.
We will discuss the war unfolding on our phone and computer screens. How can we recognize disinformation when it becomes increasingly hard to distinguish from credible information? Why is propaganda effective, and which emotions does it exploit? We'll explore cyberactivism and Magda Szpecht's experience as Cyber Elfka - new forms of civic engagement, the fight against trolls and fake news, and the search for truth in an age of information overload.
Art will be a central topic: Can theater be a tool for recognizing propaganda mechanisms? Can artists create and intervene in reality simultaneously? Where is the boundary between art, activism, and political action? The discussion will reference 'Pranie muzgó,' Szpecht's production at Teatr Jaracza, which examines how disinformation and manipulation affect our minds and emotions.
'Conversations in Times of Chaos' is a series of meetings with experts from various fields, seeking new languages to discuss contemporary issues and better understand a world that increasingly resists simple explanations.
