"Polish Sign Language Translator Behind the Scenes" | Deaf Culture Week | workshops | Łódź Many Cultures Festival

Workshops as part of the Łódź Many Cultures Festival. Workshops where translator Marta Krynicka discusses the work of a Polish Sign Language (PJM) interpreter: what preparation for interpretation looks like, what situations she encounters daily in schools, offices, or at doctors' offices, and what confidentiality and impartiality principles apply in this profession. Participants will also learn why PJM is a full-fledged language with its own grammar, and why an interpreter is not simply someone who knows it. The event is aimed at primary school students, both those who have already had contact with sign language and those experiencing it for the first time—prior knowledge of PJM is not required. The workshops will be held in two groups at primary schools and require advance registration. Full festival program day by day: Łódź Many Cultures Festival on Dziś w Łodzi.
