TRAVIATA

This work belongs to operatic classics and every opera house should have it in its repertoire. Unlike the premiere audience, contemporary viewers love the story of Violetta and Alfredo and Verdi's music. The Łódź audience in particular holds this Verdi masterpiece in high esteem and is captivated by its narrative. This production is already the fifth version of this title in our Theatre, each received enthusiastically not only by Łódź audiences. "Traviata" with libretto by Francesco Piave based on Alexandre Dumas' novel "The Lady of the Camellias" was not well received at its premiere in the Venetian theatre La Fenice in 1853. The bourgeois audience could not accept that the opera's action took place in contemporary times and the main character was a courtesan.
