Travelling on public transport means buying tickets. Instead of queuing at a ticket machine or hunting for change, you can buy an MPK Łódź ticket in a few seconds on your phone. The official MPK-Łódź app is MigAppka, and alongside it several third-party apps also sell tickets, including mPay.

Tickets on your smartphone

Tickets for public transport in Łódź can be bought directly on your phone, with no need to visit a kiosk, ticket machine or ticket office. MPK-Łódź runs its own app, MigAppka, available on Google Play and the App Store, where you can buy and manage single, time-based and season tickets. Besides that, MPK Łódź tickets are also sold through third-party apps: mPay, Jakdojade, Mobilet, zbiletem.pl, Karta Łodzianina and SkyCash.

Alongside MPK tickets, the mPay app also lets you pay for some sports events, top up your phone, and pay for parking in the Paid Parking Zones if you are driving.

Where to find the apps that sell MPK tickets

To start buying tickets on your phone, simply download the chosen app from Google Play or the App Store by typing its name (e.g. "MigAppka" or "mPay płatności mobilne"), then set up a user account. When creating the account you need to provide your personal details and choose a payment method, either a linked payment card or an electronic wallet, and every transaction is confirmed with a PIN code.

An important change: the ticket must be validated after boarding

Since 1 October 2024, a ticket bought in a mobile app is no longer activated automatically at the moment of purchase. Just like a paper ticket, it has to be validated only after boarding the bus or tram, by scanning the QR code displayed as a sticker opposite each entrance door. It is worth remembering this so that you have an active, validated ticket in case of an inspection.

The advantage of electronic tickets remains the purchase history saved in the app: in case of an inspection, you simply log into your account and show the inspector the last ticket bought and validated.
