What new attractions does Aquapark Fala offer?

New investments at Fala have included the expansion of the pool zone. A new hall with a 5-lane sports pool 25 m long has been opened for use. Directly from it, visitors will be able to swim out to a year-round outdoor pool with heated water. In addition to the heated water, an interesting solution is the atypical, irregular shape of the outdoor pool. Its walls are equipped with water massagers and air massage beds.

All relaxation fans who enjoy bubbling water will be able to use 3 new jacuzzis. They certainly make an impression because they can hold up to 30 people at once! This is great news for families or people who like to visit the aquapark with a larger group of friends.

Also new at Fala is Aqua Bike – exercise equipment for water workouts, which helps reduce body weight and improve circulation without straining joints. Aqua bike can also be an excellent form of activity during rehabilitation for people recovering from spinal injury, arthritis, osteoporosis, or cardiovascular problems. Using Aqua Bike requires advance reservation.  

New beach for nudists

One of the attractions of Aquapark Fala is a naturist beach. It is the largest beach of this type in central Poland. The creation of the beach was supported by 70% of Łódź residents, who voted on the Vox Populi platform.
The naturist beach at Fala is a reference to the history of this place – in the 1970s, Łódź's Fala was an oasis for naturists who could enjoy sunbathing here unencumbered by any clothing. A reference to those years was the organization of the "Night of Naturists" twice a year. The event enjoyed great interest and attracted up to a thousand participants. This gave rise to the idea of creating a special naturist beach at the Łódź aquapark.
The naturist beach covers approximately 1,000 m². It is located off the beaten path and screened from the view of outsiders. Its surface is covered with golden, sea sand, and deck chairs and umbrellas are available for visitors. Entry to the naturist beach is not permitted in clothing or swimwear, and mobile phones or any other image or sound recording devices are prohibited. This section is reserved exclusively for adults.

A lively place in communist-era Łódź

Although Fala, which we can visit today, was opened on January 31, 2008, the history of this place is much longer. The decision to build a swimming facility on "Zdrowie" was made in the 1970s. It was intended to be an oasis for Łódź residents craving relaxation by the water. The facility had a water treatment station, a 50-meter Olympic pool, two smaller pools measuring 30x40 m, and the smallest one, 18-meter. There was also a children's paddling pool with a carousel and a sunbathing terrace. The swimming facility was officially opened on June 19, 1976, and the next day all Łódź residents could use it. Fala was then the second most modern pool complex in Poland.

As "Głos Robotniczy" (Workers' Voice) wrote at the time:
"This facility was created through the collective effort of Łódź society, workers from various workplaces labored here, with significant contributions from Polish and Soviet soldiers, Łódź youth and individual, unnamed people of good work. One could say – we provided ourselves with one of the most beautiful recreational facilities, demonstrating how much can be accomplished through good work, social sacrifice, and commitment". 

The aquapark occupied 7 hectares and was designed for 4,000 people. A regular admission ticket cost 10 zloty, discounted entry for youth 5 zloty, and for children up to 7 years old one had to pay 3 zloty. At this price, one could stay at Fala all day. It happened that even 7,000 people rested there simultaneously!
The "Miss Summer" pageant was held at Fala. Organized with "Express Ilustrowany" (Illustrated Express), the competition began in 1984 and each year attracted more spectators and contestants. The "Miss Naturist" pageant, which selected the most beautiful beachgoers on the naturist beach, was no less popular with Łódź residents.
Aquapark Fala began to deteriorate in the 1990s, mainly due to construction errors made in the 1970s. The swimming facility closed in 1992. The decision to build a modern aquapark was finally made in 2005, when the city authorities selected the Slovenian company Makro 5 as the developer.
