Łódź in a Crooked Mirror – Pacześ, Łódź's Stand-Up Scene

Stand-up, czyli komediowa forma artystyczna pod postacią monologu wygłaszanego przed publicznością staje się coraz bardziej popularna w całej Polsce. W przeciwieństwie do kabaretu, sens stand-upów opiera się na charyzmie artysty i jego kontakcie z publią. Nie liczą się wyuczone na pamięć teksty, lecz po prostu rozbawienie oglądających. Nie znajdziemy tutaj przebrań czy dekoracji, tylko słowa, gesty i dowcipy oraz współpracę z publiczością. 

Pacześ from Łódź

One of the representatives of Polish stand-up artists is Rafał Pacześ. The 28-year-old Łódź native is a graduate of the Politechnika Łódzka (Łódź University of Technology) Department of Management and Organization, and has also worked as a sales representative during his career. His performances can be seen on television and the Internet – he runs his own YouTube channel – but live performances in various Polish cities provide far better experiences. So far he has performed at Teatr Palladium in Warsaw, Teatr Muzyczny (Musical Theatre) and Scenografia in Łódź. He has appeared alongside Cezary Pazura, Katarzyna Piasecka, and Kacper Ruciński, among others. He also excels in the role of master of ceremonies. He reached the final ten of the Antrakt Stand-Up festival at Warsaw's Hybrydy. He is an extremely active artist on the Polish scene who has twice won the Stand-Up competition at the Łódź festival. 

Rafał Pacześ reveals stories drawn from life to the audience in such a way that viewers can identify with them, making his interaction with people a fascinating game. He presents uninhibited stories to his listeners and offers intelligent observations about the surrounding world – also from his "own backyard."

The City in a Crooked Mirror

The artist comes from Łódź, so it is no wonder that his performances also concern this city. He shows Łódź in a crooked mirror – however, his allusions and jokes can generally be identified with our entire country. He can point out even the smallest flaws in his native city, but primarily presents the problems of an average Łódź resident. Manufaktura, corporate events of Łódź "businessmen," and the well-known Piotrkowska have been the subject of Pacześ's jokes for many years. Yet he never runs out of material. 

Starting from a minor digression, Rafał Pacześ is able to develop an extraordinarily interesting and intriguing monologue, entertaining the entire audience with his energy and wit. Performances lasting over an hour will not bore even the most demanding viewers and keep everyone in good spirits throughout the evening and even for hours after the show.
