Summer in our country can be unpredictable, but when beautiful summer days finally arrive, we dream above all of getting away from the city. However, we don't always have that opportunity... So must we accept that we won't make the most of the beautiful, summer weather? Nothing could be further from the truth! Łódź offers many attractions and interesting places where you can enjoy summer leisure in the fresh air and sunny weather. So what to do in Łódź in summer?
Go to a park
A walk through a park is a greatly underrated form of entertainment. And what a shame! In summer, there's nothing nicer than enjoying the sun surrounded by greenery and birdsong. Łódź provides the perfect opportunity for this because it is full of parks and green spaces. After work, take a walk to the nearest park to relax and escape your duties. You can bring a book and a snack with you – it will be even more enjoyable. On a day off, spend more time in a park that's further from where you live. Discover new corners and take advantage of the "park attractions".
During the holidays, for example, you can take part in free yoga classes in Park na Zdrowiu (Health Park) or Źródliska park. Don't forget to bring comfortable clothes, a mat, a blanket or towel, and a bottle of water.
In Łódź's parks you can also watch works of Polish and world cinema as part of the Summer Film Festival "Połówka".
Summer is a wonderful time to take care of your physical fitness! In Łódź's parks and squares you can find "open-air gyms" that will help you stay in shape and improve your mood. After all, it's proven that physical exercise releases a lot of endorphins!
Go swimming
In summer Łódź swimming pools and water parks open their outdoor pools! This is a great opportunity to relax in the water and get a golden tan. You can use an outdoor pool, for example, at "Wodny Raj" (Water Paradise) in Teofilów or at Fala aquapark. Łódzka Fala opened a new outdoor pool with water massagers this season, which we can swim into directly from the new pool hall. They also have a secluded beach for naturists with sun loungers and parasols, hidden from the eyes of other bathers. You can enjoy unrestricted beach time on white sand almost in the city center! Isn't that wonderful?
If you prefer to relax on a beach in a swimming costume and closer to nature in terms of green surroundings – on a hot day, be sure to visit Łódź's open-air swimming areas. MOSiR Arturówek or MOSiR Stawy Stefańskiego are great alternatives to pool swimming. And it lets you feel the real summer in the city!
Follow the trail of unique architecture
Once you've rested in the park, taken care of your physical fitness, and caught some golden rays of sun, head to the center. Why? To discover the beauty of Łódź's architecture. Many Łódź residents don't know their own city at all and (horror of horrors!) don't want to get to know it. Comments from Łódź residents about how there's nothing interesting to see in the city and nothing to be proud of make us dizzy. Łódź, apart from impressive green spaces, has, for example, a beautifully preserved 19th-century center, which is unique on a European scale! It is teeming with tenement houses with beautiful details, unique courtyards and factory complexes, most of which have been excellently revitalized.
Discover childlike joy
Looking for summer entertainment for your child? In Łódź you certainly won't be bored. Apart from the pools and bathing areas we mentioned, you can take advantage of the beautiful weather, for example, by tackling successive routes in Łódź's rope parks. This kind of activity is a great opportunity for children to burn off energy, as well as to train strength and motor coordination. And maybe your little one rides or wants to start riding roller skates or a skateboard? If so, be sure to head to the skatepark! Here your child will be able to safely practice their skills and try to overcome basic obstacles. Just don't forget a helmet and protective gear!
If after sports challenges you feel like a walk, be sure to follow the Łódź Fairy Tale Trail. Try to find all the fairy tale characters scattered throughout the city. Among them you'll find Wróbel Ćwirek (Sparrow Chirp), Plastuś, Trzy Misie (Three Bears), Pingwinek Pik-Pok (Penguin Pik-Pok), and the famous Uszatek. Following the trail of favorite characters will be a real treat for children.
How to end a successful day? Of course with delicious ice cream! You can get delicious artisanal ice cream at many points throughout the city, and if you want a large selection in one place, be sure to visit the Artisanal Ice Cream Festival!
