What Łódź is known for in the world, or what every tourist should see

According to research conducted by the Department of Geographical Sciences at the University of Łódź, Łódź is also visited by foreign tourists – most often from Germany and the United Kingdom. They most frequently visit Manufaktura and ulica Piotrkowska (Piotrkowska Street). What other sites do they pay attention to?

Ulica Piotrkowska

Once – a trade route connecting Piotrków Trybunalski with Zgierz; today – the city's main pedestrian thoroughfare and Europe's longest shopping street. Called "Pietryna" by locals, it is probably the first place every city resident or tourist looking for company and good entertainment will head to. It's not just numerous shops, but above all restaurants, clubs and cafés that fill up on weekends with crowds seeking entertainment.

Pałac Poznańskich

Those who have decided to visit Manufaktura should definitely also head to the Museum of the City of Łódź, housed in Pałac Poznańskich (the Poznańsky Palace). The impression is made not only by one of the most spectacular buildings in the city; the historic interiors can inspire even greater admiration. Not without reason is Pałac Poznańskich sometimes called the Louvre of Łódź. Visitors can learn not only about the palace's history, but also explore numerous exhibitions dedicated to the city.

EC1, the Science and Technology Centre

Łódź has acquired its own equivalent of Warsaw's Copernicus Science Centre. An equivalent that is larger, more spectacular and with many incredible attractions that are difficult to experience anywhere else. What's more, it was built on the site of a former power plant!

Księży Młyn

Księży Młyn continues to present itself spectacularly; red brick, a reminder of the days of the factory city, gives this place a unique atmosphere. The settlement established in the mid-19th century by Karol Scheibler still pulses with life – though one might think time stopped there long ago.

HollyŁódź

Łódź is Poland's film capital. The National Film, Television and Theatre School is known around the world, just like its famous graduates, while the Hall of Fame and the Cinematography Museum are places that every film lover should visit at least once. It's also a good idea to visit several atmospheric cinemas, including Bodo and Kinematograf.

Skansen Miejskiej Architektury Drewnianej (Open-Air Museum of Wooden Architecture)

A somewhat forgotten place; not all tourists are aware of the existence of such a specific complex. It is located right next to the Central Museum of Textiles. Visitors can see wooden workers' houses, a summer villa and an evangelical chapel, which were built during the heyday of Łódź's textile factories. Visiting this place, one can temporarily travel back in time.
