On the last weekend of September, Łódź will once again become the capital of Polish fashion! This is thanks to Fashion Industry Days 2018, an event that pays homage to Łódź's textile tradition.
What will we see at Fashion Industry Days?
Fashion Industry Days is an industry forum serving as a platform for artists, creators, and brands, as well as all those interested in new fashion trends.
To capture the industrial character typical of the city, the second edition of the event will take place at Stara Przędzalnia Widzewskiej Manufaktury (the Old Widzewo Mill of the Widzewa Manufactory). From September 28 to 30, life will pulse there once again! The walls of WI-MY will be filled with fashion enthusiasts, among them many talented Polish designers, art school students and graduates, industry professionals, and fashion enthusiasts.
The event is divided into three leading elements: the Runway zone, featuring over 20 fashion shows this year, the Atelier zone, comprising one hundred carefully selected stands of Polish designers and clothing brands, and Academy, consisting of a series of meetings, training sessions, workshops, and panel discussions.
During FID there will also be numerous additional attractions. The walls of Stara Przędzalnia will be covered with exhibitions of art and photography.
Łódź Traditions in a Modern Setting
The idea for Fashion Industry Days arose from the need to pay tribute to Łódź's textile traditions. Our city, like perhaps no other in Poland, is associated with this particular branch of industry. Additionally, the industrial character of the event is emphasized by placing it in a 19th-century mill. Fashion Industry Days is also a response to a real need to create a new platform for meetings—a place for exchanging experience and knowledge on how to run a fashion business for those involved in it.
To ensure professional backing, the organizers have hired the best directors, wardrobe masters, hairdressers, stylists, makeup artists, producers, hostesses, and engineers and technicians who will ensure a unique setting for the event.
Applications from exhibitors are still open. Designers who want to organize a show in a post-industrial atmosphere should hurry—the event is gaining increasingly popularity.
Admission to most events will be free, so we warmly invite everyone to Widzewska Manufaktura who would like to experience fashion in a truly Łódź atmosphere.
