Łódź has been home to several brands on the Polish market for years that are associated only with this city. The prestige of their products speaks volumes, and it also has a great effect on regional marketing. An example of such a company is undoubtedly Wólczanka. It has existed since 1948 and mainly produces men's shirts, but also women's. Its assortment also includes knitwear products and accessories such as ties, bow ties and cufflinks. The brand is also well-known and appreciated abroad. In 2006, two giants merged: Vistula from Kraków and Wólczanka from Łódź. Today both companies operate under the name Vistula Group S.A.
Dinosaurs of Łódź's clothing industry
Men's clothing is produced by Prochnik S.A. It is a contemporary of Wólczanka, founded in the same year. The company experienced its best moments of glory in the 1970s, but later moves kept the brand on the market. In 1991, the company made its debut on the stock exchange. The entire product range is currently produced exclusively in Poland. In addition to men's fashion, the company is also planning a line of women's collections and expansion into foreign markets.
In 1957, Dom Mody Telimena (Telimena Fashion House) was founded – the 1970s and 1980s were the time when every woman dreamed of this company's products. Stories circulate around Łódź about what customers were capable of just to get clothes from this brand. In 1993, Dom Mody Telimena was transformed into Telimena S.A., a joint-stock company. In 1996, Wisława Szymborska received the Nobel Prize in a costume from this very company. Unfortunately, problems also began. Currently the magic of production has faded, and Telimena is engaged in the production of occupational clothing, among others for uniformed services. So on Polish streets we can encounter products from this company, for example on law enforcement officers.

Younger Łódź style
Łódź women and others also dress in younger companies. One of them is Spektra Studio Elżbieta Michalik. It has been operating since 1995, and its offer is aimed at women. These are dresses, blouses and coats. Products are sold throughout the country, and can be ordered online.
Meanwhile, Gramix is engaged in the production of men's sports clothing. It has been on the market for twenty years and offers sweatshirts, tracksuits and shirts. These are very high quality products.
The oldest company among the somewhat younger ones is undoubtedly Modesta. While it has its headquarters in a small town near Łódź, it is nonetheless associated with this city. Its offer is directed at women. Interestingly, clothes are sewn in a wide spectrum of sizes from 36 to 54. Products are made from excellent materials and have perfect finishing. Moreover, Modesta contributes to the education of the next generation of professionals. It accepts interns from Poland as well as from abroad, from countries such as London, Moscow and Amsterdam. Interestingly, the First Lady of Poland orders costumes from this company.

Niche brands
Among Łódź companies, there are also those that direct their offer to a fairly narrow group of customers. However, they prosper quite well and even develop. Gouda Works thus offers author products, created by Daniel Tworski. His clothes are decorated with unusual graphics that are at the same time an expression of love for Łódź. Funny t-shirts are bought not only by Łódź residents.
NIC is a brand of knitwear, but not a banal one. Their coats and sweaters are veritable works of art, as they depict landscapes. All production takes place in Łódź, and the materials for clothing production come from recycling or from the wool of Polish sheep.
Among Łódź women, BUBALA – a fashion designer for demanding and modern women – is gaining increasing popularity. It is known for its originality, interesting and pleasant fabrics, and author prints that are impossible to pass by indifferently.
The clothing industry is doing well and there is still a huge chance to dress Łódź-style. We can list many well-known brands coming from Łódź. Monnari and Tatuum are also companies with headquarters in Poland's fashion capital. So our clothing center still exists and is doing quite well.
