A TS-11 Iskra training jet built in 1975, brought to Łask from Dęblin in 2008 in exchange for the earlier Lim-2 fighter on display, stands on a plinth at the town's main crossroads.
At the junction of Objazdowa and Warszawska streets in Łask, a TS-11 Iskra jet aircraft numbered 1230 stands on a plinth. This monument commemorates the long-standing cooperation between the aviation unit stationed in the city and Łask, clearly visible from the main road running through the centre.
The monument features a TS-11 Iskra specimen with tail number 1230, manufactured in June 1975. The aircraft served with the 10th Training Squadron of Aviation in Łask from March 1984 to May 1994, before being placed on open-air display. The Iskra is a Polish jet trainer and advanced training aircraft, produced from the nineteen-sixties onwards and used for pilot training over successive decades of service.
The current aircraft is not the first to stand in this location. In 1980, a Lim-2 fighter with number 708 was placed on the plinth. By resolution of the Łask City Council of 12 March 2008, Lim-2 number 708 was transferred to the 32nd Tactical Air Base in exchange for TS-11 Iskra number 1230. The Iskra was transported to Łask from Dęblin in July 2008 and installed on the same plinth.
The monument is intended to recall the long-standing cooperation between the aviation unit and Łask. The city has bordered the air base for decades, and the aircraft exchange in 2008 took place with the agreement of city authorities and the 32nd Tactical Air Base, which currently oversees the monument.
The aircraft has undergone renovation in recent years, as reported by the local press. The monument remains maintained and visible from the main route through the city, in the immediate vicinity of the monument to Jan Łaski at the square in the centre.
