A monument by Uniejów's Rynek square honours Maria Skłodowska-Curie, the Polish scientist and two-time Nobel Prize winner.
The monument standing at the Rynek in Uniejów is, judging by its name, intended to commemorate Maria Skłodowska-Curie, a Polish researcher and two-time Nobel Prize laureate. Uniejów is a small spa town on the Warta river, with its centre formed by an expansive market square surrounded by buildings and greenery.
Uniejów's Rynek brings together most of the town's important points, including churches and resting places. Monuments and memorial plaques are common features of the public space here, as is the nearby Monument to the Defenders of the Town.
It is a short walk from here to the Collegiate Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where most of Uniejów's historic buildings are concentrated.
In the other direction, by the water, lies a thermal fountain with a hot spring, one of the spa town's curiosities.
