Mural - ARYZ (Spain), 2011

Pomorska 67, Łódź
About Mural - ARYZ (Spain), 2011

A mural by Spanish artist ARYZ on Pomorska Street 67 is one of Łódź's street art works from 2011. It is worth seeing to observe how contemporary art transforms the city's appearance.

The mural on Pomorska Street 67 in Łódź was painted by Spanish artist ARYZ as part of one of the first Urban Forms festivals, when the open-air street art gallery was just beginning its activities.

Who is ARYZ

ARYZ was born in Palo Alto, California, and moved to Barcelona at the age of three, where he grew up on the outskirts of the city. He is known for monumental murals executed in a restrained, pastel colour palette, with visible texture from roller and brush. A characteristic feature of his work is the frequent depiction of internal organs or bones.

Unique technique

The artist mixes paints directly whilst painting, which allows him to achieve colours that are practically impossible to reproduce in another work. The mural on Pomorska Street depicts a scene of a woman reading a letter, known in some sources by the title "Love Letter".

Łódź Urban Forms gallery

The Urban Forms Foundation has been running artistic projects in Łódź since 2008, and the first major street art festival with the participation of foreign artists took place in 2011. ARYZ has painted in many European countries, including France, Spain, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, Finland and Norway, as well as in the United States, Venezuela, Japan, China and Morocco.
