The mural "Czas pożarł nas" (Time Devoured Us) by artist LUMP on Wólczańska street is a black-and-white collage in a communist-era style, critiquing the saturation of public space with advertising.
At Wólczańska 109 in Łódź there is a mural titled "Time ate us" by artist LUMP from Szczecin, painted in 2012. A photograph of the work for the Urban Forms Foundation was taken by M. Sikora.
LUMP comes from Szczecin and combines traditional graffiti with large-scale installations in his work. He founded the FREEDOM gallery in his home city, presenting work by recognised Polish street art creators, and initiated the "Unlocking" project, through which murals by renowned urban artists came to Szczecin.
In his work LUMP uses collage and stencil techniques, drawing on forms associated with PRL [Polish People's Republic] aesthetics and sepia effect. "Time ate us" fits into this way of working: the artist criticises in it the saturation of public space with media and advertising, parodying the language of messages reaching city residents on a daily basis.
The mural is documented by the Urban Forms Foundation, which has been collecting Łódź street art works for years, including also the mural "Gentrification" by Robert Proch on Legionów, created a year later than LUMP's work.
