About mural - MEISAL461 (Poland), 2017

The mural "Kobieta Adlera" (Adler's Woman) on Żeligowskiego street references the work of Jewish painter Jankiel Adler, held in the collection of the Muzeum Miasta Łodzi.

The mural at ulica Żeligowskiego 58 in Stare Polesie is the work of Łódź artist MEISAL461, or Meisal Lasiem, created in 2017 as part of the OFF Galeria 2.0 project of the Urban Forms Foundation.

What it depicts

The mural is titled "Kobieta Adlera" (in English "Woman of Adler") and alludes to the figure of Jankiel Adler, a Jewish painter known from the collection of the Museum of the City of Łódź. The OFF Galeria 2.0 project assumed that invited artists created their own interpretations of the work of Jewish painters from this collection, in accordance with their own style.

The artist's style

The work of MEISAL461 is distinguished by intense colours and expressive outlines, derived from graffiti styling of the turn of the millennium. Meisal Lasiem was born in 1981 and has been active in Łódź since 1996, being one of the pioneers of local street art and graffiti and initiator of the first graffiti jams in Poland.

Earlier achievements of the artist

Meisal Lasiem is the author of the first large mural in Poland, with an area of 998 square metres, painted at ulica Piotrkowska in Łódź.
