A mural by Russian artist MORIK from 2014 located at ulica Więckowskiego 9. An example of street art worth seeing during a walk around Łódź, part of the city's extensive gallery of murals.
The mural at ulica Więckowskiego 9 in Łódź is the work of Russian artist Morik, created in 2014 during the fourth edition of the Urban Forms Festival. It is marked as mural number 31 in Urban Forms Gallery, a network of street art works run by the Urban Forms Foundation.
The work is titled "Po rozmowie" (in English "After the Call") and shows a woman just after receiving a phone call she had been waiting for. On the wall you can see her sitting on a wooden chair, with the telephone handset set down, and in the background an old photograph evoking the past as well as repeating stripes and patterns.
Morik combines realism with elements of surrealism in his works. Characteristic of his approach are layered effects resembling digital image distortion, which in this mural can be seen in the repeating patterns in the background behind the figure.
The mural was created as part of the Urban Forms Gallery programme, which collaborated with the Mia100 Kamienic initiative, which involved renovating Łódź tenement buildings along with their façades.
