Okuda's mural on the Olimp dormitory on Patrice Lumumby street is a multicoloured, three-dimensional geometric composition painted for the 20th anniversary of Erasmus Student Network.
On the façade of the "Olimp" student accommodation at the University of Łódź on ul. Patrice Lumumby 12, a 3D mural by Spanish artist Okuda has been visible since 2018. The colourful composition of geometric structures covers the building wall as part of the Urban Forms Festival programme.
Okuda is the pseudonym of Óscar San Miguel Erice, born in 1980 in Santander, in the Cantabria region of Spain. He is recognised for geometric patterns and colourful figures in a style termed pop surrealism, present on walls in many countries.
The Łódź mural uses three-dimensional technique, which Okuda has been developing in his work since 2006. Geometric structures and colourful patterns create an impression of depth and spatial illusion on a flat wall.
The mural was created on 28 August 2018 to mark the 20th anniversary of Erasmus Student Network Poland, an organisation supporting exchange students. It was created on the wall of student accommodation in the Lumumbowo neighbourhood complex, where many students coming to Łódź as part of the Erasmus programme live.
The work operates under two titles. Urban Forms, the festival organiser, gives the name "The Magic Beings from the Oil Sea" in the project description. In street art cataloguing services, such as Street Art Cities, the work is also listed as "Hunter".
