Who painted the mural

Peeta is the pseudonym of Manuel Di Rity, an Italian artist who combines painting with sculpture. In his works he draws from graffiti lettering, which he transforms into geometric forms resembling three-dimensional structures.

How the three-dimensional effect is created

The letters on the mural are carefully shaded, so that the grey, flat wall begins to look like a spatial structure. The artist builds this effect using paint alone, without altering the building's structure, using principles of perspective in the way illusionistic painting works.
