Piaski Fountain is a pleasant place to spend time outdoors in Pabianice. Around the fountain there is a pleasant park space where you can rest, walk and enjoy the surroundings.
Piaski Fountain is a small, interactive fountain with LED lighting, located on Skwer na Piaskach imienia inżyniera Bolesława Pietrzaka [Bolesław Pietrzak Memorial Square] in Pabianice, on Szarych Szeregów Street.
The device is small, approximately three by one and a half metres, and is flat, with no visible water tank, and its surface is covered in granite. Water is ejected from six nozzles, and the whole is enhanced by coloured LED lighting, similar in character to that found in the fountain in Słowacki Park. The fountain's operating programme repeats every half hour, and the lighting switches on approximately an hour before dusk.
The fountain is located on a square which officially bears the name of engineer Bolesław Pietrzak. The dedication of a patron to this small public space underlines that the square, despite its modest size, holds significance for the city that extends beyond its recreational function alone.
Construction of the fountain cost approximately 56,000 Polish złoty. It is a small, local investment compared with large city fountains, but on the scale of a neighbourhood square it represents a noticeable enhancement of public space, particularly in the evenings thanks to the lighting.
