Dmowski Roundabout is a road junction in the centre of Tomaszów Mazowiecki, one of the city's most important transport hubs, connecting several main streets. It is named after Roman Dmowski, one of the creators of independent Poland.
Roman Dmowski (1864-1939) was a politician and publicist, leader of the National Democratic Movement, regarded in this current as the father of Polish nationalism in its conservative understanding. In 1919, he headed the Polish delegation at the Paris Peace Conference, where he played a significant role in determining the borders and international recognition of Poland after the First World War.
The roundabout connects several major arteries of Tomaszów Mazowiecki, which means a significant portion of car traffic heading to and from the city centre passes through it daily. This transport function remains the primary role of this location, alongside the symbolic significance of its namesake.
The roundabout occasionally hosts events associated with its namesake. In 2019, on the 155th anniversary of Roman Dmowski's birth, a concert commemorating the occasion took place here. Such events combine the roundabout's transport function with its historical dimension.
