About Stryków Reservoir

Stryków Reservoir is an ideal destination for families with children to spend time in nature. Visitors have access to water, green spaces and opportunities for active recreation.

Stryków Reservoir is an artificial water body on the Moszczenicy river created in 1990. It is one of the main places for recreation, water sports and leisure in the Stryków region, attracting families, anglers and tourists from across Łódzkiej. Operating seasonally in the summer months, it offers access to water and abundant recreational infrastructure.

Size and facility infrastructure

The reservoir covers an impressive area of 12.6 hectares, giving it the position of one of the larger recreational water bodies in the region. On the left bank, at ulica Legionów [Legions Street], there is a public sandy beach with a designated bathing zone. In the summer season, the beach offers equipment hire for water sports such as kayaks, pedalos and paddleboards, as well as a designated recreation and play area for families. Around the reservoir there are illuminated cycling and walking paths, equipped with rest benches, sturdy bicycle racks for safe parking, a modern children's playground and fitness equipment available to visitors of all ages.

Modernisation and active facility management

The reservoir is managed by the Ecological and Angling Association ZALEW in Stryków, a non-governmental organisation responsible for maintaining the fishing perimeter, water quality control and visitor safety. In recent years, planned modernisation of the infrastructure has been carried out – in 2023 and again in 2025–2026, expansion of the eastern and western banks of the reservoir was implemented. Works included comprehensive renovation of walking and cycling paths, addition of new street furniture elements such as pergolas and shelters, replacement of lighting and significant improvement in safety standards. These investments have clearly improved accessibility for people with different needs and increased the appeal of the facility.

Significance for tourism and recreation in the region

Stryków Reservoir is an important recreation and water sports centre for residents of Stryków and surrounding areas, but also a tourist destination attracting visitors from further parts of Łódzkiej. The seasonal character of the facility results from natural climatic conditions – full service provision, access to the bathing area and equipment hire are provided only in the summer months, which constitutes a natural cycle of leisure. The reservoir also attracts professional anglers and nature enthusiasts, serving as a hub for water and cycling tourism on the Łódzki Szlak Żelazny [Łódź Iron Trail] and areas adjacent to the nature corridor.
