A small square next to the fire station at the corner of Krakowskie Przedmieście and Jagiellońska in Piotrków Trybunalski gained new hornbeam and shrub plantings in 2024.
Ochotnicznej Straży Ogniowego Square lies at the intersection of Krakowskie Przedmieście and Jagiellońska streets in Piotrków Trybunalski, just beside the headquarters of the local fire brigade, from which it takes its name.
The area is situated precisely at the junction of Krakowskie Przedmieście and Jagiellońska, next to the building of the Volunteer Fire Brigade. Like most squares in Piotrków, it is maintained by the Roads and City Maintenance Department, which looks after the greenery and order in this small plot.
In March 2024, despite rain, students from secondary school number 6 named after Queen Jadwiga took part in a plant planting action at the square together with employees responsible for city greenery. Three columnar hornbeams, shrubs of alpine currant and common mahonia, as well as periwinkle flowers were planted at that time. A Roads and City Maintenance Department employee discussed the species of plants being planted and their role in urban greenery with the students, and participants jointly constructed wooden screens protecting the young saplings.
A similar planting action was carried out the same year and with the participation of the same school at Baranki Square on Próchnika Street. Those looking for more such intimate places in the city may also visit Stanisław Srzednicki Square on Cmentarna Street.
