As tradition dictates, the program features beautiful boleros and other genres from Latin America, this time presented in a more subjective and personal manner. The ensemble has expanded with two trumpets, two trombones, and two saxophones, while the artist's elaborate arrangements transform popular songs into multi-part symphonic poems. "Boleros y Masecki" is a fascinating synthesis of Latin culture with Slavic sensitivity. A new genre is being born before our eyes. Marcin Masecki spent his childhood in Popayan, a small town at the foot of the Andes in Colombia. Later, while studying in Boston, he met Candelaria Saenz Valiente, a girl from Buenos Aires. They married. Half a century earlier in Buenos Aires, Masecki's grandparents met—his grandmother was the daughter of the director of Bank Polski, and his grandfather was displaced by World War II.
