19. LAJ Opening Concert: Grzegorz Turnau "Sixth Hour" | Wytwórnia

The album "Sixth Hour" received enthusiastic reception from both listeners and music critics, topping the OLiS chart of best-selling Polish records. The lyrics were written by renowned poets – Leszek Andrzej Moczulski, Józef Czechowicz, Robert Frost, Adam Zagajewski, Bronisław Maj, and Grzegorz Turnau himself. Grzegorz Turnau is a singer, composer, and pianist who has been performing with his band for over 40 years. He has released 17 albums of original material and 3 albums interpreting works by other artists. He has made guest appearances in numerous recording and concert projects, collaborating with many soloists, instrumentalists, and orchestras. He debuted at the XX Student Song Festival in Kraków (1984) with the song "Znów wędrujemy" (based on K.K. Baczyński's poem), winning first prize. Invited by Piotr Skrzynecki to perform at Piwnica pod Baranami, he appeared there for 13 years. He has received numerous awards including the Gold Cross of Merit, Medal for Contribution to Culture Gloria Artis, Honorary Citizenship of Inowrocławia, 9 Fryderyks, 2 Viktory awards, Grand Prix at Opole Festival, and 2 Superjedynki awards. Turnau is also a composer of theatrical and film music. With his band, he has performed nearly 3,000 concerts that continue to draw audiences appreciating original and skillfully crafted entertainment.
