Between Arab Identity and the West. A Few Words on Palestinian Music | Meeting | Łódź Wielu Kultur Festival

Meetings, Łódź Wielu Kultur Festival. A lecture on contemporary Palestinian music as a space where Arab heritage meets global pop culture circulation—rock, hip-hop, and electronic music. The host, music critic and musicologist Aya Al Azab with Polish-Jordanian roots, will show how the adoption of Western music genres since the 1960s has become a way for Palestinian artists to express their own identity under occupation, rather than merely imitating foreign patterns. The work of the band Le Trio Joubran, whose concert closes the festival, will serve as a point of reference. The lecture is designed as an accessible introduction that requires no prior knowledge of Arab music. The full festival program day by day: Festiwal Łódź Wielu Kultur on Dziś w Łodzi.
