Spring 2020. The world stood still, and Charli XCX – at the peak of her career, just before a major concert tour – found herself alone in a rented house in Los Angeles. Instead of remaining artistically paralyzed, she announced an unprecedented project via Instagram: she would record a new album in forty days, with her fans – known as Angels – becoming its co-creators. They submit lyrical ideas, record video fragments, design the cover, and participate in live sessions. The film follows both Charli's struggles and those of five fans from different corners of the world – each experiencing the pandemic in their own unique way. "Charli XCX: Alone Together" is a documentary film directed by the duo Bradley Bell and Pablo Jones-Soler. The creators gave part of the control over the material to the artist herself.
