Her attention is drawn not only by an abandoned marble statue of the young man in museum storage, but also by archival footage showing his torn portrait removed from a wall. Following the tangled fate of this man, Agnieszka discovers the private lives of people entangled and destroyed by the communist system. Through her investigation, she meets people close to Birkut: friends and colleagues.
