How Many Layers Does Memory Have - Conversation and Secular Chavrutah with Shabbat Dinner at Centrum Dialogu

On August 28 at 5:00 PM, we invite you to a conversation with representatives of the second generation of Holocaust survivors — Mikołaj Trzaska and Mikołaj Grynberg — and psychoanalytic psychotherapist and supervisor Joanna Chmarzyńska-Golińska about the phenomenon of trauma inheritance and ways of remembering difficult history. The starting point is the "Layers of Memory" project, in which artists and researchers examine repressed histories and disrupted fabric of memory in places with complicated identity. Participants will reflect on how to speak about intergenerational pain, loss of identity, and postwar displacement without falling into "competing suffering." The conversation will also address the role of art as a safe tool to break through the dictate of silence.
