Under the male pseudonym "Abnegat" she published feuilletons in "Dziennik Łódzki," which constitute invaluable testimony to city life at the end of the 19th century. In the "From the Week" column, she portrayed Łódź's contrasts – from the salons of wealthy bourgeoisie to working-class communities and everyday "plagues" of the industrial metropolis. Jadwiga Elzenbergowa's work is characterized by genre diversity – her literary output included, besides feuilletons, individual poems, dramas with historical and patriotic themes, and poetry (the collection "Strofy" published in Łódź in 1899).
