"The Virgin Suicides" is an adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenides' cult novel, published multiple times in Poland. The story of five Lisbon sisters tells of first experiences and entering adulthood, from which there is (or is there?) no escape. Visually stunning cinematography by Ed Lachman, with an ethereal musical score by the duo Air, "The Virgin Suicides" is a sensual coming-of-age tale set in the 1970s. A quarter century later, this decade bathed in saturated, sunny colors remains above all a memory and fantasy – recorded in abandoned diaries, cut trees, and the sounds of vinyl records. An unnamed narrator recalls the teenage Lisbon sisters, a man who fell in love years ago not so much with one of the girls, but with the aura of mystery they exuded.
