Concert from the series "Classically at the Biedermanns" - Compositions by Chopin, Franck and Ravel | Pałac Biedermanna

Pianist Maciej Jonczyk will perform Maurice Ravel's Ondine – the first part of the famous Gaspard de la nuit cycle, considered one of the greatest challenges in the piano repertoire. The composer drew inspiration from Aloysius Bertrand's poem. Its protagonist – a water nymph – appears at night at a man's window and tries to convince him to become her beloved and live with her in an underwater kingdom. When rejected, she disappears like drops of water running down a windowpane. The program also includes Frédéric Chopin's Fantasy in F minor op. 49 – one of the composer's most monumental and dramatic piano works. The piece was created in 1841 when the 31-year-old Chopin was already a fully mature artist. In the second part of the concert, violinist Aniela Janiak will perform.
