Famous soprano arias from the second half of the 19th century, predominantly by Italian composers, are paired with instrumental fragments from operas and symphonic works by Central and Eastern European composers. Numerous connections are evident—not only in the richness of the musical layer, which represents the essence of late romanticism, but also in the themes, where love takes precedence above all earthly matters: it is worth suffering and dying for, it is what gives life meaning.
