Łódź Traces of Marian Turski. Author Meeting with Andrzej Brzeziecki at Centrum Dialogu

Andrzej Brzeziecki, author of biographies of Tadeusz Mazowiecki, Krzysztof Kozłowski, and Roman Czerniawski, as well as – with Małgorzata Nocuń – a biography of Alexander Lukashenko. Although Turski was born in Porzecze (Grodno district), he grew up in Łódź – living on Szkolna Street (today Mielczarskiego) and later Sterlinga. He completed primary school at the "Tarbut" school operating near Piotrkowska and attended the Polish-Hebrew Gimnazjum Męskiego Towarzystwa Żydowskich Szkół Średnich. In 1940 he was relocated with his family to the Łódź ghetto. He attended school with, among others, Dawid Sierakowiak, and worked in the meat and wood departments. He was a member of the anti-fascist Union Left. In August 1944, he and his family were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau.
