Fashion for Slavic Heritage. Meeting with Prof. Piotr Grochowski

We search in Slavic heritage for the deepest, pre-Christian roots of our identity. We are curious what distinguishes us from the Western world, what is uniquely ours. We long for lost primitive spirituality, connection with nature, for something that seems more authentic and local to us. But what do we really know about ancient Slavs? How much of this is historical knowledge and how much is romantic mythology created in the 19th century? How much Slav is there in a Pole? Who are Polish native believers? Piotr Grochowski—a folklorist, culturologist, ethnologist; professor at the Institute of Cultural Studies at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń—will answer these and many other fascinating questions. The Professor specializes in analyzing folk cultures and traditional folklore and their contemporary continuations.
