On an abandoned garbage dump at the edge of the city lives a pack of stray dogs led by Black, a young, aggressive dog wary of humans. Each dog carries their own sad story: naive Dotty abandoned by a human, Purebred—a dachshund left behind in an empty apartment after her owner's death, Silent—an aging circus dog too weak to entertain anymore, and Smarty—an intelligent dog putting on a brave face. There's also old Limpy who has accepted his fate, Beautiful who trusts no one, and Loyal—big and gentle, still waiting for "his Human." Yet rather than despair, the dogs continue to live and find joy in life, for such is the nature of dogs: joyful and optimistic! Soon the pack is joined by Cat, a charming liar and hedonist.
