Lecture Andrzej Wajda: Creator and His Film WESELE at Muzeum Kinematografii

Andrzej Wajda – film and theatre director, screenwriter and set designer, one of the most outstanding creators in world cinema history. A presentation of the artist's profile and his 1972 masterpiece. The lecture focuses on Andrzej Wajda's film Wesele as an example of adapting literary drama into a film work. Participants compare the language and means of expression of literature and cinema, analyze the symbolic and metaphorical character of scenes, and examine how the film interprets motifs, characters and images from Stanisław Wyspiański's drama. The lecture provides a deeper interpretation of national issues, historical and social myths, and reflection on Polish identity characteristic of Young Poland.
