"Roots of Modernity. The Warsaw Artists' Circle during the Congress Kingdom (1815–30)" - Wednesday with Culture at Muzeum Pałac Herbsta

A lecture titled "Roots of Modernity. The Warsaw Artists' Circle during the Congress Kingdom (1815–30)" will take place on November 4, 2026 at 5:00 PM at Muzeum Pałac Herbsta as part of the "Wednesday with Culture" series. It will be led by Joanna Ciemińska from the Old Art Department at Muzeum Pałac Herbsta. The focus is on Antoni Brodowski, Aleksander Kokular, and Paweł Maliński—artists who, according to the organizers, are unjustly overshadowed by later generations. Their work will be presented against the backdrop of changing social and political circumstances in Polish lands and new aesthetic and formal currents that were transforming European art at the time. "Wednesday with Culture" is a series of lectures for individual adults. Beyond fascinating stories from the lives of selected outstanding Polish painters, the series covers topics from art history, cultural history, fashion, and customs of the 19th and first half of the 20th century. Practical information: ticket costs 10 zł. Seating is limited and participation is only possible with advance reservation. Registration opens October 21 at edu.herbst@msl.org.pl or by phone at 506 941 803 (Mon.–Fri., 8:00 AM–4:00 PM).
