The 1971 film "How Far From Here How Close" is one of the most important works in Tadeusz Konwicki's filmography, featuring Andrzej Łapicki, Gustaw Holoubek, Maja Komorowska, and Anna Dymna. Andrzej undertakes a symbolic journey into the past, hoping to uncover the reasons behind his friend Maks's suicide. He is followed by a group of mysterious masqueraders in straw costumes and actor Włodek. During this dreamlike wandering, the protagonist encounters ghosts of people from his past. One of the film's most important sequences was shot at the Scheibler Palace, now the Museum of Cinematography in Łódź, with its alcohol-filled and smoke-laden interiors including the dining room, Moorish hall, ballroom, and library.
