Participants will be inspired by archival materials documenting the history of protests, strikes, and civic engagement of Łódź residents. They will study selected examples of historical protest posters and prints, then use this knowledge to create their own poster designs. During the workshops, participants will learn the fundamentals of typographic design and selected artistic printing techniques. Through experimentation with letterforms, composition, slogans, and graphic form, they will create original protest posters inspired by both historical events and contemporary forms of resistance and social demands. The workshops combine historical education with practical artistic work, demonstrating print as a tool for communication, community building, and civic expression. The resulting works will be creative interpretations of archival documents and an opportunity to reflect on the significance of protest in the city's history and its residents' lives.
Participants will work on typographic designs of slogans created during the workshop, beginning with the word NO. Designs will be printed using wooden type on paper and t-shirts.
Participants will also have the opportunity to design a handwritten typeface in the solidaryca style.
