About this event
The exhibition title references the firing temperature of ceramics. The ceramic forms are inspired by characters from puppet theater. Through continuous exploration of new techniques—firing, glazing, and painting—the artist achieves individual artistic effects. The presented puppet designs are a selection from the work of Maria Kostrzewska-Baron, who has collaborated with numerous theaters in Poland. The displayed puppets come from specific theatrical productions and are borrowed from Baśniowa Kawiarenka theater for this exhibition. Kostrzewska-Baron graduated from the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Łódź in 1976, specializing in painting and unique textiles. She worked as a scenographer in puppet theaters and spent over 20 years in film as a scenographer, decorator, and costume designer on productions including "Mothers, Wives and Lovers," "Honeymoon Years," "Żurek," "Day of the Wacko," "Only Fear," and "Testosterone." Her collaboration with theater and film inspired her to create a collection of small porcelain sculptures. Currently, she works in her own ceramic technique, with each sculpture being a unique and unrepeatable work. Her works have been exhibited in Poland, the USA, Czech Republic, Germany, and France, and are held in collections including the Ethnographic Museum in Łódź and the Toy Museum in Stockholm.
