African Violet Exhibition at Palmiarnia in Łódź

Saintpaulia, or African violet, is a plant from the humid tropical forests of East Africa, primarily Tanzania and Kenya. While about 20 botanical species of African violets exist worldwide, breeders have developed hundreds of varieties over the years, differing in size, flower colors, and leaf shapes. This year's exhibition theme focuses on the diversity of African violet leaves. Rather than a single 'ordinary leaf,' African violets display many distinct types with characteristic shapes and edges, including common forms such as boy leaves (smooth, classic), girl leaves (wavy with delicately serrated edges), and spoon varieties.
