Cafés shape the character of every city. Łódź is no exception: there are plenty of places worth stopping at for a coffee, from intimate tea houses tucked into gateways along Piotrkowska, through post-industrial lofts, to a garden café in Źródliska Park. Below is a list of 10 Łódź cafés.

1. Cafe Verte, ul. Piotrkowska 113/115

A café set in a gateway just off Piotrkowska, known for its antique furniture and Witkacy photographs on the walls. It suits anyone looking for quiet and an unhurried conversation over tea or a homemade cake, away from the bustle of the main street. Open daily, from 10:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.

2. Dekadencja, ul. Piotrkowska 35

A tea house in a gateway on the city's main street, styled with décor recalling the early 20th century: antique furniture, crocheted tablecloths and small details that build the mood of a bygone era. The menu lists dozens of teas, coffee and homemade cakes. A good choice for a quiet afternoon for two.

4. Hot Air Cafe, Piotrkowska 217

A café in a former factory space, recognisable by Cyprian Łukasik's mural covering the walls and ceiling. The coffee is brewed from specialty beans sourced from Polish roasters, in several variants: white, black and cold. The interior is small, so expect a queue at peak times.

5. Tubajka, café in Źródliska Park

Tubajka stands on Plac Zwycięstwa, right in the heart of Źródliska Park. It suits families with children: the venue is adapted to their needs, deck chairs are set up on the grass in summer, and the menu includes coffee and homemade cakes (also gluten-free and vegan options) alongside artisan ice cream. The café also hosts workshops, picnics and outdoor concerts.

6. Owoce i Warzywa, ul. Traugutta 9

Owoce i Warzywa was Łódź's first café-club and has been running continuously since 2010. The name is misleading: the menu features specialty coffee brewed by alternative methods, including nitro, and in the evenings craft beers, wines and cocktails. The interior displays works by Polish street artists, and freshly roasted coffee is sold at the counter to take away.

9. Surindustrialle, Piotrkowska 118A

A café-gallery with metallic, industrial décor: steel armchairs, heavy decorative elements and objects for sale (jewellery, sculptures, dishes, candles). The menu centres on tea, including the less common blooming teas. It suits anyone looking for something out of the ordinary in Łódź. Open from Tuesday, until 21:00 on Sundays.
