To some, the city brings to mind only museums and historic buildings, to others it is a place buzzing with life at night. There is, however, also plenty on offer for those chasing extreme attractions, adventure and unusual experiences, both in Łódź itself and across the Łódź Voivodeship. Below are specific, verified suggestions for fans of strong thrills.

The rope park in Arturówek

Park Linowy Arturówek at ul. Studencka 20/24, in the heart of the Łagiewniki Forest, offers more than a hectare of rope courses of varying difficulty, nine tree-top routes including a popular zip-line course. It can be visited both by thrill-seekers and by whole families looking for an active day out. The park operates seasonally, so it is worth checking current opening hours before a visit.

Battle Arena: paintball outside Łódź

Battle Arena in Piekary, about 15 km from the centre of Łódź, is one of the largest paintball grounds in the Łódź Voivodeship: 8 hectares of buildings, woods, trenches, bridges over a river and vehicle wrecks. Full equipment is provided on site (markers, masks, uniforms) along with scenario-based games such as a city assault or capturing a convoy. It makes a good idea for a trip with a larger group.

Above the market square at Manufaktura there is a zip line, a 180-metre descent route suspended a dozen or so metres above the ground, running from the terrace of the Factory Museum to the roof of the former spinning mill. The ride, available solo or in tandem, takes about two minutes, and the attraction operates during the Factory Museum's opening hours, seasonally, mainly in the warmer part of the year. It is worth checking prices before a visit, as they change from season to season.

A paragliding flight in Łęki Kościelne

For anyone who wants to take to the skies, a tandem paragliding flight with an instructor is a good option. Flights take off from the airfield in Łęki Kościelne, about 50 km west of Łódź, and last, depending on weather conditions, from a few to about fifteen minutes. The flying season runs from spring to autumn, with flights taking place mainly at weekends.

A skydive in Piotrków Trybunalski

For those after stronger thrills, a good option is a tandem skydive from about 4,200 metres, organised by Sky Force in Piotrków Trybunalski, about 45 km south of Łódź. The jump is preceded by a short briefing, the flight in the plane takes about 12 minutes, and the jump itself is around 60 seconds of free fall at over 200 km/h, followed by a few minutes flying under an open parachute. Jumps take place from April to the end of October, at weekends, weather permitting.
