The Amphitheatre in Sieradz is a venue where you can experience theatre and live music. The facility offers a regular programme of performances and concerts for various audiences.
The Amphitheatre in Park Staromiejski in Sieradz is a stage for performances, concerts and film screenings, located in a park covering 4.5 hectares, situated above the Warta river. Since 1970 it has served as a venue for public events. Currently (2026) it is undergoing expansion and modernisation, scheduled for completion in 2027.
Park Staromiejski was established in 1824 as one of the oldest public gardens in Sieradz. The amphitheatre, initially designed as a stage for theatrical performances and concerts, was opened to the public in 1970. For over fifty years it served as an important venue for cultural events in the city.
The previous version of the amphitheatre could accommodate approximately 2500 seated persons. The stage was built traditionally in the open air, which made it difficult to use in poor weather conditions. The surrounding park offered green space for relaxation and walks.
The complete modernisation and expansion represented an investment worth over 20 million PLN, of which over 13 million PLN came from EU co-financing. The new project provides for the construction of a modern building with a roof, which will make it possible to use the facility year-round. The new stage will have a canopy, and a fully-equipped technical back-of-house will support various types of production. The capacity of the new amphitheatre will be reduced to 1515 ergonomically arranged seating places.
After the reconstruction is complete, the amphitheatre will be a multifunctional hall, adapted for theatrical performances, concerts, conferences and film screenings. All indications are that the covered stage will allow for regular performances by artists regardless of the weather. In the summer before the reconstruction, it was traditional to organise outdoor film screenings under the open sky.
