City Park in Rawa Mazowiecka stretches across both banks of the Rawka, in the very centre of the city, covering approximately 5 hectares. It was established in the 19th century in the style of an English promenade garden, and today borders the Rawka Nature Reserve, together forming a larger strip of greenery along the river.
The park's history dates back to the 19th century, when it was established in the then-popular style of an English promenade garden, with winding paths rather than geometric axes. The park is listed in the register of monuments, which confirms its historical and landscape value for Rawa Mazowiecka.
The grounds are home to 74 species and varieties of trees and shrubs, some dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. This diversity gives the park the character of an old-growth parkland rather than modern plantings, and it changes noticeably with the seasons.
Its location on both banks of the Rawka means that a walk through the park also runs alongside the river itself, with views of the water from several points. This proximity to the Rawka watercourse, together with the nature reserve bearing the same name, creates a continuous strip of greenery in the centre of Rawa Mazowiecka, rarely found in cities of this size.
The park underwent renovation from June 2016 to October 2017, partly funded by European Union grants. As part of this work, paths with an arabesque pattern were laid out, a wooden bridge over the Rawka was built, a gazebo and benches were installed, and new lighting and surveillance systems were added. A children's playground also operates on the grounds. The park reopened after the work in April 2018.
