About Dom tkacza

A 15th-century historic weaver's house that guides us through the history of textile craftsmanship. The building has preserved the original structure of a weaving workshop from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, showing what daily life and work looked like for its inhabitants.

Dom tkacza at ulica Zamkowa is a testament to Łódź's rich weaving tradition. In this 15th-century building, you discover an authentic spatial organization: residential rooms interspersed with workspaces where weavers operated their looms. The interiors have preserved elements typical of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries — you can see how families lived, worked, and raised children in a single space. Visiting the house, you become acquainted with the practical side of the weaving craft. The exhibition showcases tools, machines, and work organization that shaped the character of the city. It's an ideal stop on a route exploring Łódź as a European center of textile manufacturing — instead of reading about history, you see where and how it unfolded.
