A small square on the historic plac Kościuszki, the old town's former marketplace, with a monument to Tadeusz Kościuszko unveiled in 1917.
Zielony Skwer is a small park in the very centre of Opoczno, on the historic Plac Kościuszki. It is a good place for a short rest during a walk around the Old Town, close to Zamek Kazimierzowski w Opocznie and Opoczno's Esterka's House.
Plac Kościuszki is the historic market square of the Old Town in Opoczno, with a preserved medieval spatial layout from which streets radiate outwards. The square occupies part of this space, adjoining the buildings of the former market and the Roman Catholic Church of St. Bartholomew the Apostle.
A monument to Tadeusz Kościuszko stands in the square, from which the current name of the square derives. It was made from sandstone brought from the Żarnów area and unveiled on 17 October 1917. The monument was created by reworking an earlier Russian monument, and the market was renamed Plac Kościuszki on this occasion.
The square is part of Opoczno's green spaces, which the city maintains as part of the upkeep of public areas in the centre. It is an intimate place, without additional attractions beyond the greenery itself and the proximity to Old Town monuments, so it works mainly as a stopping point when visiting the market.
