Kino Spójnia

Kino Spójnia operates in a building of the Youth Culture Centre (Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury) at aleja 1 Maja 17/19 in Aleksandrów Łódzki. It has one screen with 170 seats, showing current releases and screenings for older audiences, with the programme refreshed on Wednesday afternoons. The name predates the current venue: it was the name of a cinema that operated in the city before the transformation.

Return after thirty years

The former Spójnia was housed in a voluntary fire brigade building and closed at the beginning of Poland's political transformation, when small cinemas across the country lost out to multiplexes. The cinema returned to the city in summer 2021, after roughly a thirty-year break, in a modernised hall of the culture centre. Programming is managed by the team from the Łódź-based cinema Charlie.

What to watch

The programme combines family releases with films for adults, and there are also special screenings, such as concert recordings. The cinema participates in a film education programme for schools, with separate series for preschoolers, years 1–3, years 4–6 and secondary schools. Tickets are available on site and online.

A screening can easily be combined with other cultural offerings in the city: classes, exhibitions and a film club are run by Aleksandrowskie Centrum Kultury on ulica Waryńskiego.

Before or after a screening there is plenty to explore, as Park 200-lecia is nearby.
