Marcin Andrzej Ziółkowski Square

Bonapartist, judge and social activist

Marcin Andrzej Ziółkowski lived from 1790 to 1864. He came from Wielkopolska [Greater Poland], was a Bonapartist, lawyer and social activist. In the 1820s he settled in Radomsko, where he worked as a judge.

Initiator of the municipal masonry hospital

Ziółkowski was the initiator of the construction of the Municipal Hospital in Radomsko as a masonry building, which in a wooden city at that time constituted a major undertaking. The precise fate of this building, including whether it has survived to the present day in its original form, has not been confirmed in available sources, although a facility under the name Municipal Hospital in Radomsko continues to operate in the city.

Naming of the square and memorial plaques

The City Council of Radomsko decided to name the square after him at the intersection of Narutowicza and Kościuszki streets. Two information plaques were erected on the square near Narutowicza, one of which, dedicated to Ziółkowski, outlines his life and achievements.
